ENERGY AND FUEL PRICES

• Federal laws and tax policy should encourage environmentally sound oil exploration and drilling, as well as energy conservation.

• Federal government should expand its tax incentives for research and development as to alternative energy production, especially in regard to renewable energy.

• Federal policy should clearly recognize that hydro-electric power is a strong and sound renewable energy source.

• Congress should encourage expansion programs to enhance refinery production. The fuel formulas imposed by law should be made more flexible to avoid shortages when formulas are changed.

• Congress should promote the purchase and maintenance of hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles.

• Low-interest loans and other incentives should be provided to help people convert expensive and inefficient home heating systems to less expensive and more efficient heating systems.
